Security Alarm installed in office
This type 4 alarm system was found installed in an office.
I am guessing that the wall was installed after the smoke detector!
Building guidelines state that Fire Detection and Security Alarm Systems should be installed not less then 200mm from a wall.
Check out this access control press to exit switch
Hard to guage in the photo but this request to exit (emergency push button) is about 1800mm off the ground.
You would be having to get down pretty low to be able to press this switch.
While there are no specific NZ Building Code clauses covering access control hardware, access routes and movement to a place of safety are pretty important.
The building and surrounding environment should be designed to allow for all occupants to evacuate the building and reach a safe place in the event of an emergency.
