The man who was caught on CCTV brazenly robbing the ANZ bank in Auckland has been apprehended and prosecuted with aggravated robbery.

Tui was sitting down to lunch when a sweaty man knocked on her window and asked her to call him a taxi. Little did she know it was the man who had just robbed the bank and escaped on foot. Police arrived with the help of a passerby who had followed the robber but he managed to escape again.

A local primary School was put into lockdown until police were certain he was no longer in the area. It was right on school pick up so parents and children were kept in classrooms for nearly an hour.

The CCTV footage of the man was invaluable in helping the police catch and identify him.
