The lure of free Wi-Fi when you are in a cafe, hotel lobby or shop is enticing but it is not worth the risk. Whenever you link your device to another organizations network you expose your mobile device to ransomware and hackers.
Here are a few key things you can do to keep your Mobile Devices Secure
- Turn User Authentication On – it is too easy for mobile devices to get lost or stolen. You need to ensure you have your screen lock on with a pin or password for entry. We keep a lot of personal information on our devices that you don’t want accessible to others.
- Update Your Operating System (OS) Regularly – If you are using obsolete or outdated apps they are easier to hack. Many vendors are actively creating security patches to keep ahead of security vulnerabilities. Make sure your automated app updates are switched on so you get the reminders.
